Mini Gardens

6x6"
Oil on canvas
$70

Hi

While painting my new garden series of paintings, I was yet again asked to donate work for a cause, "Great Exposure." As artists, we get asked for free work all the time. While many causes are genuinely valid, we can only do so much. This year, I decided to donate to a cause I choose and in doing so, I will donate $25 for each mini garden sold. Contact me at judy@judyanderson.ca if you are interested.

Road Trip 6

This image is a little closer to home. On the road with the Escarpment running low just down the hill. You know if you stop, the view will be great.

Road Trip 5

This image is on the road north in Ontario. It really could be any of our highways.
You know there is another great view just around the winding bend.

Road Trip 4

This image is from a place I have been lucky enough to go and paint for many summers with my other artist pals.

This is almost at the end of the road in Willisville Ontario approaching Charlton Lake Camp.
We usually spend a day here painting the surroundings.

Road Trip 3

This week it is only beyond freezing cold - completely deceiving since the sun is out and it looks lovely. I will stay in though and just wish it was warmer.

This is somewhere in Georgia, coming up to the Great Smoky Mountains.

Road Trip 2

(So it's cold. It's windy. It's dull - yuck...)

That was the comment from last week - still stands today - freezing rain misty snowy stuff happening....

This is some highway somewhere in Ontario heading north.

Road Trip 1

So it's cold. It's windy. It's dull - yuck

So I have decided to spend my studio days on road trip paintings. I am basically envisioning when I can go on vacation again.

This is the first.

Warm Wind

I did this little pic when it was windy here. Not the warm, lake breeze blowing the lovely trees around, but a bone chillin' minus something crazy winter wind.
I would much rather it be warm.

Natures Bridge

In keeping with wishing for summer, I have done another quick pic of the LaCloche region of Ontario.
Depending on the wind and water levels, sometimes one rock outcrop can be joined to another. It just depends on whether you want to get wet or not when you walk across.

Natures little trick, it looks like solid ground, but sometimes you just suck into the mud.

Blue Sky?

Today is a warm for January, but it is grey and miserable.
I needed some sunshine and had to make my own blue sky as the weather channel lied again.
Partly sunny my a**.

Anyway, this pic is from the LaCloche region in Ontario. A lovely lake near Willisville - calm and filled with lily pads and great views. There are hardly any homes and the cottages that do dot the shoreline are few and far between. I have been down this route a few times and will never get sick of the quiet and the view.

Cheating

Today is bright and sunny but still bloody cold.
I did not go out to do this piece. Instead I worked in my studio to do a quick sketch painting of the shore of Lake Ontario remembering when there was NOT 50 feet of ice built up along the shore.

Caribbean sketches

This Christmas I spent the Holidays with family on St. Maarten.
I had been their previously just briefly but this time I got to see more of the island.
The wind was warm but strong.
The days were partly cloudy but they moved across the sky quite quickly leaving just enough sun to feel the warmth but not really realize just how hot it was.
Here are some sketches from that week.

Niagara Escarpment Views

We are sooooo lucky in southern Ontario to have the Niagara Escarpment in our backyard. That, along with the Bruce Trail being only steps away, there is always great subject matter right here at home.

Here are a couple of quick local pics. 5x7" acrylic on paper

A quick little trip to Old Quebec City

I was lucky enough to visit Old Quebec city this fall with some great friends.

These little 4x4" watercolours are some images from that visit. I could paint many many more from that fabulous place. It was even better to be there before the cruise ships came in. I think the population doubled and the little bar we found close to our hotel no longer had lots of free tables.

I will have to go back.

Way too many months ago.....

Yes, it has been months since I have posted anything.

The spring and summer for me are show times - not so much creating times.
Now that it is getting cold and definitely dark, it is time to get back into the studio.

This time around for my smaller pieces, I have decided to do works on paper.

I am starting with quick sketches, quick acrylic painting overlaid with another quick marker sketch.

We shall see how it goes...

These are all 5x7, pencil, acrylic, marker on watercolour paper.

So little time...

Yes, behind again on my small daily works.
I have been painting larger pieces, trying to get ready for the local studio tour on May 11-12. 10-5pm.

I did manage though, to get a couple of small pieces done.  4x4"

Seems I have used this title before, but here in Ontario, that is what you get!

Summer Reminiscence

A couple of weeks ago a group I paint with decided to host a "Virtual" facebook weekend.
We all posted pics and thoughts of the summer place we go and paint.
I did these 3 small sketches about that area - the lovely La Cloche Mountains in Ontario.

Near and Far

This week I pretended it was nice outside.

I did a painting of a local water and roadway that is a popular fishing spot and a great recreational trail.

I also envisioned a lovely day up north, sitting on a rock and watching the lovely scenery.
